Metha Horizon
Métha Horizon illustrates Evergaz’ ability to develop territorial projects in conjunction with local players. The project was initiated by Jérémy Ravillion in 2009 in Pierre-Morains, Marne department. The Metha Horizon Company, which brings together forty-odd local farmers, was created in 2013 to lead this project.
Project description
Situated in the heart of the Champagne region, the anaerobic digestion unit provides surrounding municipalities with green gas and is supplied by local farms, in particular with cereal crop by-products, beets, slurry and straw.
Métha Horizon is Evergaz’ leading site for injection into the natural gas transmission network (GRTgas), allowing the company to increase its expertise in biomethane. This biogas facility recovers 36,000 tonnes of agricultural waste per year while producing 500 Nm3 of green gas per hour, i.e. the annual energy consumption of the equivalent of 3,700 homes.
